- 1 cup root beer soda (not diet)

- 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, root beer soda, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat on medium speed until smooth.
- Divide batter evenly among cupcake liners, filling about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
- To make frosting, beat softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with heavy cream, beating until smooth and fluffy.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Frost cooled cupcakes and garnish with maraschino cherries if desired.

- Use regular root beer for best flavor; avoid diet soda as it affects texture.
- For extra root beer flavor, add a teaspoon of root beer extract to the frosting.
