Description

A hearty, rustic version of the classic Beef Stroganoff, featuring tender beef, a creamy mushroom sauce, and served over soft egg noodles. This comforting dish is perfect for a family meal or a special dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or stew meat, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup (240ml) beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 12 oz (340g) egg noodles
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or sauté pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add beef strips and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced onion and garlic. Sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. Add mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes, allowing it to absorb the juices.
  6. Slowly add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and paprika. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3–4 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream. Add salt and pepper to taste. Return the cooked beef to the pan and stir to combine with the sauce.
  8. Serve the beef stroganoff over the cooked egg noodles. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use sour cream in place of some of the heavy cream.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or milk.
  • Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a green salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave.
