Description

Salami and Cheese Pastry Pockets are crispy, golden puff pastry parcels filled with savory salami and gooey melted cheese. These handheld bites are perfect for a quick lunch, party appetizer, or an on-the-go snack, combining rich flavors and a satisfying crunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 slices of salami (thin or thick cut, depending on preference)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry to smooth and slightly enlarge it.
  3. Cut the pastry sheet into 4 equal squares.
  4. Place 2 slices of salami in the center of each square. Add a tablespoon (or more) of shredded cheese on top. Optionally, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard under the salami.
  5. Fold each square over to form a triangle or rectangle, depending on your preferred shape. Press the edges with a fork to seal.
  6. Brush the tops of the pastry pockets with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm.

  • Feel free to mix and match cheeses like provolone, Swiss, or pepper jack for extra flavor.
  • You can make mini versions for party platters by cutting the pastry into smaller squares.
