For the Salisbury Steak:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Onion Gravy:
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Salisbury Steak: Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4-5 patties.
- Cook the Patties: In a skillet, cook patties over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Onion Gravy: In the same skillet, add butter and onions. Cook until softened and golden. Sprinkle flour over onions, add broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
- Combine and Serve: Return patties to skillet, spoon gravy over, and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve hot.
