Description

Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents are a savory, flaky pastry filled with a creamy, flavorful sausage and cream cheese mixture. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a party appetizer, these easy-to-make bites are sure to be a hit!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 lb sausage (breakfast sausage or Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook the sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat and remove from heat.
  3. Make the filling: In a medium bowl, mix together the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and shredded cheddar cheese (if using). Stir until well combined and creamy.
  4. Prepare the crescent rolls: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles as instructed on the package.
  5. Assemble the crescents: Spoon a generous amount of the sausage and cream cheese filling onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Roll up the dough from the wide end to the point, enclosing the filling inside.
  6. Bake the crescents: Place the assembled crescents onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, use spicy sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • These can be made ahead of time and frozen. Simply assemble the crescents, freeze them on a baking sheet, and transfer to a freezer bag. Bake directly from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
  • You can substitute the cheddar cheese with any cheese you prefer, such as mozzarella or Monterey Jack.
