It’s often served as a sharing dessert, making it perfect for special occasions or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 thick slices of brioche bread (about 1 1/2 inches thick)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons honey (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup whipped cream
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread butter evenly on both sides of each slice of brioche bread.
- Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- While the bread is toasting, mix the honey and ground cinnamon (if using) in a small bowl.
- Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and drizzle the honey mixture over the top of the warm bread.
- Carefully slice a 2-inch deep square into the center of the bread, without cutting all the way through the bottom. Gently hollow out the center to create a space for the ice cream.
- Fill the center of the bread with scoops of vanilla ice cream. You can stack the ice cream high for a dramatic presentation.
- Arrange the sliced banana and strawberries on top and around the ice cream.
- Top with whipped cream, a light dusting of powdered sugar, and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
- Drizzle a little extra honey over the top before serving.
- Serve immediately and enjoy this deliciously sweet and indulgent Shibuya Honey Toast!
Notes
- If you want a richer flavor, you can brush the bread with some melted butter before toasting it.
- Feel free to customize the toppings with other fruits like blueberries, kiwi, or raspberries.
- You can also drizzle some chocolate sauce or caramel sauce over the ice cream for an extra touch of sweetness.
- For a more authentic taste, you can use Japanese honey, which is typically lighter and more floral in flavor.
- This is a very indulgent dessert, so it’s perfect for sharing with friends or family.
