Description

Frankenstein Pasta is a fun and spooky Halloween-themed dish featuring green pasta decorated with mozzarella “eyes,” black olive “hair,” and cucumber “bolts.” It’s a playful and easy dinner option that’s perfect for getting into the Halloween spirit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package spinach pasta (or regular pasta with green food coloring)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 medium cucumber, sliced
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese, cut into large circles
  • 1 (6 oz) jar pitted black olives, halved

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spinach pasta and cook according to the package instructions.
    • If using regular pasta and you want it to be green, add 10-20 drops of green food coloring to the boiling water. For a deeper green, add more food coloring after draining the pasta.
    • Drain the pasta and return it to the pot. Stir in the butter until melted.
  2. Assemble the Frankenstein Face:
    • Arrange the pasta on a large rectangular platter (about 20″ x 12″).
    • Use the mozzarella cheese circles as eyes, placing them in the center of the pasta.
    • Place halved black olives on the mozzarella circles to complete the eyes. Use additional black olives to create Frankenstein’s “hair” at the top of the pasta and a “mouth” at the bottom.
    • Cut the ends of the cucumber and place them on the sides of the pasta for Frankenstein’s “bolts.”
  3. Serve:
    • Let the kids join in to customize their Frankenstein pasta, then serve and enjoy this spooky creation for a fun Halloween dinner!

Notes

  • For a more vivid green, you can use spinach pasta or add extra green food coloring to regular pasta.
  • The design of Frankenstein’s face can be adjusted based on your preference or the ingredients available.
