Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz raw shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 green onions, finely sliced
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 24 wonton wrappers
- Small bowl of water (for sealing edges)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine chopped shrimp, cream cheese, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil (if using), and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Lay out a few wonton wrappers at a time (keep others covered). Place 1 tsp of filling in the center of each wrapper.
- Wet edges with water, fold into a triangle, press out air, and seal tightly. Optionally, bring corners together to form decorative shapes.
- Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with dipping sauces like sweet chili, soy sauce, or spicy mayo.
Notes
- You can air fry or bake these for a lighter version (brush with oil and bake at 400°F for 10–12 minutes).
- To make ahead, freeze uncooked wontons on a baking sheet, then store in a freezer bag. Fry from frozen (add 1–2 extra minutes cook time).
- Make it spicy with a pinch of red pepper flakes in the filling!
