Description

These Shrimp and Cream Cheese Wontons are crispy on the outside, creamy and savory on the inside. Filled with juicy shrimp, smooth cream cheese, and a punch of flavor from green onions and garlic, they’re the ultimate bite-sized appetizer. Perfect for dipping and guaranteed to disappear fast!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz raw shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 green onions, finely sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • Small bowl of water (for sealing edges)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine chopped shrimp, cream cheese, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil (if using), and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Lay out a few wonton wrappers at a time (keep others covered). Place 1 tsp of filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Wet edges with water, fold into a triangle, press out air, and seal tightly. Optionally, bring corners together to form decorative shapes.
  4. Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve hot with dipping sauces like sweet chili, soy sauce, or spicy mayo.

Notes

  • You can air fry or bake these for a lighter version (brush with oil and bake at 400°F for 10–12 minutes).
  • To make ahead, freeze uncooked wontons on a baking sheet, then store in a freezer bag. Fry from frozen (add 1–2 extra minutes cook time).
  • Make it spicy with a pinch of red pepper flakes in the filling!
