Description

Shrimp Butter is a rich, flavorful spread that combines the delicious taste of shrimp with the smooth, creamy texture of butter. Perfect as a topping for seafood dishes, spread on bread, or mixed into pasta, this shrimp butter brings an incredible depth of flavor to any meal. Quick and easy to make, it’s a must-try for seafood lovers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb (8 oz) cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp:

    • Chop the cooked shrimp into small pieces, but not too finely. You want to keep a little texture for the butter.
  2. Sauté the Garlic:

    • In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant, but be careful not to burn it.
  3. Combine with Butter:

    • In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter with the sautéed garlic and olive oil. Stir to combine.
  4. Add Shrimp and Seasonings:

    • Add the chopped shrimp to the butter mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
    • Add the lemon juice, fresh parsley, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  5. Chill (Optional):

    • For best results, transfer the shrimp butter to a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper, form it into a log shape, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up the butter. You can also serve it immediately if desired.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve the shrimp butter with grilled bread, crackers, seafood dishes, or pasta. It can also be melted over fish or shrimp to add extra flavor.

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftover shrimp butter in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. For longer storage, wrap it tightly and freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Variation: Try adding a bit of cayenne pepper for heat or fresh lemon zest for a more citrusy flavor.

  • Tip: This shrimp butter can also be used as a sauce for pasta or a topping for grilled vegetables.
