- 8 oz raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 egg white
- 4 slices white bread, crusts removed
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse shrimp, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and egg white until a coarse paste forms.
- Spread shrimp mixture evenly over one side of each bread slice.
- Cut each slice into 4 triangles.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat (about 350°F/175°C).
- Carefully fry shrimp toast triangles, shrimp side down first, until golden and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm with sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Ensure shrimp paste is coarse for texture; don’t over-process.
- Use fresh shrimp for best flavor.
- Can bake instead of frying for a lighter version, about 15 minutes at 400°F (200°C) until golden.
