Description

Crispy, golden shrimp toast featuring a flavorful shrimp paste spread on toasted bread, perfect as an appetizer or party snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 egg white
  • 4 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse shrimp, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and egg white until a coarse paste forms.
  2. Spread shrimp mixture evenly over one side of each bread slice.
  3. Cut each slice into 4 triangles.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat (about 350°F/175°C).
  5. Carefully fry shrimp toast triangles, shrimp side down first, until golden and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm with sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure shrimp paste is coarse for texture; don’t over-process.
  • Use fresh shrimp for best flavor.
  • Can bake instead of frying for a lighter version, about 15 minutes at 400°F (200°C) until golden.
