Description

Sloppy Joe Crescent Bake is a hearty and delicious dish that combines the classic flavors of a Sloppy Joe with the flaky goodness of crescent rolls. This easy-to-make recipe is perfect for a quick dinner or a fun twist on the traditional Sloppy Joe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) Sloppy Joe sauce
  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in the Sloppy Joe sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Unroll the crescent rolls and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, arranging them to form a crust that covers the bottom of the dish.
  6. Spread the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly over the crescent roll crust, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent roll crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter version.
  • If you want extra flavor, top with additional cheese or add sliced jalapeños before baking.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground beef with cooked lentils or a plant-based meat alternative.
