Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening sauce)
  • 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening sauce)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, basil, oregano, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker, making sure the chicken is well coated.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  5. Optional: If you’d like a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry and stir it into the sauce in the slow cooker. Let it cook for an additional 10 minutes to thicken.
  6. Serve the chicken with the sauce spooned over it. Pair with rice, veggies, or a side salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • This recipe works well with chicken thighs if you prefer dark meat.
  • For a spicier kick, you can add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the sauce mixture.
