Description

This Smoked Salmon Bagel Dip is the ultimate creamy, savory appetizer that combines all the flavors of a classic smoked salmon bagel into a dip! Cream cheese, smoked salmon, fresh herbs, and capers come together in a delicious dip that’s perfect for spreading on bagels, crackers, or veggies. Ideal for parties, brunch, or holiday gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 4 oz smoked salmon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Bagel chips, crackers, or fresh veggies for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  2. Add the Salmon and Herbs: Gently fold in the chopped smoked salmon, capers, fresh dill, and chives (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Chill: Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. If you have more time, letting it chill for a few hours or overnight will deepen the flavor.
  4. Serve: When ready to serve, transfer the dip to a serving bowl and garnish with additional fresh dill or chives. Serve with bagel chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables like cucumber slices or carrots.

Notes

  • For a more intense smoky flavor, you can use smoked salmon spread or add a few drops of liquid smoke.
  • If you prefer a more decadent dip, you can substitute some of the sour cream with heavy cream or crème fraîche.
  • You can prepare this dip in advance; it keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • If you’re not a fan of capers, you can replace them with finely chopped red onion or shallots.
