Description

Smokey Sloppy Joe and Provolone is a mouthwatering twist on the classic sloppy joe sandwich. The smoky, savory beef is paired with cheesy garlic toast, making for a quick and satisfying meal. This easy-to-make dish is perfect for weeknight dinners or when you’re craving something comforting and delicious. The combination of sloppy joe sauce, mozzarella or provolone cheese, and garlic bread will be a hit with the whole family!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef (cooked and drained)
  • 2 cans sloppy joe sauce (Del Monte Smokey BBQ flavor or any smoky-flavored sauce, or add liquid smoke to regular sloppy joe sauce)
  • 2 boxes Texas Toast garlic bread with cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese (or sliced provolone cheese)
  • Optional: 2 slices garlic keto toast (for a low-carb option)

Instructions

  • Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, making sure to drain any excess fat once fully cooked.
  • Mix in Sloppy Joe Sauce: Add the two cans of sloppy joe sauce to the cooked beef, stirring well. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure it’s well combined and heated through.
  • Prepare the Texas Toast: While the meat is simmering, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the garlic bread (Texas Toast) on a baking sheet and bake for about 5 minutes, or until it is slightly crispy and golden.
  • Assemble the Sandwiches: Once the garlic toast is ready, remove it from the oven. Spoon the smoky sloppy joe mixture generously onto each slice of toast. Top with either shredded mozzarella or a slice of provolone cheese.
  • Melt the Cheese: Return the toast to the oven and bake for an additional 7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Optional Keto Version: For a low-carb version, substitute the Texas Toast with keto-friendly garlic bread.
  • Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the oven and enjoy this cheesy, smoky delight!

Notes

  • If you prefer a stronger smoky flavor, you can add a few drops of liquid smoke to regular sloppy joe sauce.
  • For a low-carb option, use keto-friendly garlic toast.
  • You can substitute mozzarella with any other cheese of your choice, such as cheddar or pepper jack, for a different flavor.
  • This dish can be made in large batches, making it perfect for family gatherings or meal prep.
