Description

These soft, buttery Christmas mints are a nostalgic holiday treat that melt in your mouth. With a smooth peppermint flavor and festive red-and-white twist, they’re perfect for family gatherings, gift baskets, or a sweet snack to enjoy during the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ tsp peppermint extract (adjust to taste)
  • Red gel food coloring

Instructions

  • Beat the Butter: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until fluffy.
  • Add the Rest: Gradually mix in the cream, powdered sugar, and peppermint extract. Beat until the dough becomes firm and smooth.
  • Divide and Color: Divide the dough into two parts. Leave about ¾ of the dough white and color the remaining ¼ with red gel food coloring.
  • Roll and Twist: Roll small portions of each dough color into ropes, then twist them together. Pinch off small sections to form mints.
  • Dry and Set: Let the mints air dry for 1-2 hours, then cut them into bite-sized pieces. Allow the mints to dry completely for 24 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • You can adjust the amount of peppermint extract for a stronger or milder mint flavor.
  • Use gel food coloring for a more vibrant color without altering the dough’s consistency.
  • Allow the mints to dry for at least 24 hours to ensure they firm up properly.
