Description

These Southern-Style Honey Butter Cornbread Poppers are mini cornbread bites packed with flavor and topped with sweet honey butter. Perfect as a side dish or snack for any occasion, these poppers are a must-try comfort food!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (8.5 oz) cornbread mix
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for honey butter)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for honey butter)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a mini muffin tin with cooking spray or line with paper liners.
  • Prepare the Cornbread Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornbread mix, milk, melted butter, egg, and salt. If using, add the garlic powder and shredded cheddar cheese to the mixture. Stir until just combined.
  • Fill the Muffin Tin: Spoon the cornbread batter into the mini muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 of the way full.
  • Bake the Poppers: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cornbread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Make the Honey Butter: While the cornbread is baking, make the honey butter by melting 2 tablespoons of butter in a small bowl. Stir in the honey and cinnamon until smooth.
  • Glaze the Poppers: Once the cornbread poppers are done baking, remove them from the oven and brush the warm honey butter generously over each popper.
  • Serve: Let the cornbread poppers cool slightly before serving. Enjoy these sweet, savory bites warm!

Notes

  • For a savory twist, you can add cooked bacon bits or jalapeños to the batter.
  • These cornbread poppers are perfect for a party or holiday gathering as a bite-sized snack.
  • If you prefer, you can use homemade cornbread instead of the boxed mix for an extra personal touch.
  • Leftover cornbread poppers can be stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
