Description

This bold and flavorful pasta dish combines tender shrimp, spicy chorizo, and sweet bell peppers in a rich and creamy sauce. Spaghetti with Pepper Cream, Chorizo & Shrimp is a comforting yet elegant meal that’s quick enough for a weeknight but impressive enough for guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 oz Spanish chorizo, sliced or diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the chorizo and cook for 3–4 minutes until it starts to crisp.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink and opaque, about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove shrimp and chorizo from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and cook until soft, about 4–5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  5. Reduce heat to low, stir in the cream, Parmesan cheese, and smoked paprika. Stir until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Return shrimp and chorizo to the skillet. Add the cooked spaghetti and toss everything together, adding a bit of reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can use sweet or hot chorizo depending on your spice preference.
  • Substitute penne or linguine if spaghetti isn’t available.
  • Add a squeeze of lemon juice just before serving to brighten the flavors.
