Description

These Spicy Garlic and Sesame Fries are the perfect combination of crispy, spicy, and savory, with a touch of garlic and sesame that takes regular fries to a whole new level! These flavorful fries are a great side dish, appetizer, or snack that will leave everyone craving more!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes (or your favorite type of potato), cut into fries
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp chili paste or sriracha (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional for a touch of sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (toasted, for garnish)
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • 12 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Cut the potatoes into fries, ensuring they are evenly sized for even cooking.
  3. Place the fries in a large bowl and toss them with olive oil, salt, and a little pepper. Spread them evenly in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden and crispy.
  5. While the fries bake, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, mix together the sesame oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, chili paste or sriracha, and honey (if using).
  6. Once the fries are done baking, remove them from the oven and immediately toss them in the spicy garlic sauce.
  7. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the fries and add crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro for a burst of color and fresh flavor.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy the crispy, spicy, and savory fries!

Notes

  • You can adjust the level of spice by adding more or less chili paste or sriracha, depending on your taste preference.
  • For a deeper sesame flavor, toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet before using them as a garnish.
  • You can also make these fries in an air fryer for an even crispier result!
