Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large russet potatoes (or your favorite type of potato), cut into fries
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tbsp chili paste or sriracha (adjust to heat preference)
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional for a touch of sweetness)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (toasted, for garnish)
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
- 1–2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (optional, for garnish)
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Cut the potatoes into fries, ensuring they are evenly sized for even cooking.
- Place the fries in a large bowl and toss them with olive oil, salt, and a little pepper. Spread them evenly in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden and crispy.
- While the fries bake, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, mix together the sesame oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, chili paste or sriracha, and honey (if using).
- Once the fries are done baking, remove them from the oven and immediately toss them in the spicy garlic sauce.
- Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the fries and add crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro for a burst of color and fresh flavor.
- Serve hot and enjoy the crispy, spicy, and savory fries!
Notes
- You can adjust the level of spice by adding more or less chili paste or sriracha, depending on your taste preference.
- For a deeper sesame flavor, toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet before using them as a garnish.
- You can also make these fries in an air fryer for an even crispier result!
