Ingredients
For the Stir-Fry:
-
1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
-
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
-
2 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
-
1 red bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger)
-
2 tablespoons soy sauce
-
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
-
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
-
1–2 teaspoons chili paste or sriracha (adjust for heat preference)
-
1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, to balance the heat)
-
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Rice:
-
2 cups cooked jasmine rice (or white rice of your choice)
-
1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
-
For the Stir-Fry:
1. Prepare the Beef:
-
Slice the flank steak (or sirloin) thinly against the grain. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
2. Cook the Rice:
-
Cook the rice according to package instructions (usually 1 part rice to 2 parts water). Once cooked, set aside and fluff with a fork. If desired, toss the cooked rice with a tablespoon of sesame oil for added flavor.
3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
-
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the green beans and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until they are tender but still crisp. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set them aside.
4. Cook the Beef:
-
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the sliced beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef and set it aside.
5. Make the Sauce:
-
In the same skillet, add the garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste (or sriracha), and brown sugar (if using). Stir to combine and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened.
6. Combine the Ingredients:
-
Add the cooked beef and vegetables back into the skillet. Toss everything to coat with the sauce, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until everything is heated through.
For Serving:
7. Serve:
-
Serve the spicy garlic beef stir-fry over a bed of cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, or cilantro if desired.

-
Add More Vegetables: You can customize this stir-fry with other vegetables like carrots, mushrooms, or broccoli for more variety.
-
Beef Alternatives: If you prefer another cut of beef, you can substitute with rib-eye or skirt steak.
