Description

These juicy and flavorful lamb meatballs are packed with spice and herbs, perfect for a quick appetizer or served with your favorite side dish. Ideal for those who enjoy bold, savory flavors!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to heat preference)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, cumin, paprika, coriander, cinnamon, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
    • Add in the chopped cilantro and mix again to incorporate.
  2. Form the Meatballs:
    • Use your hands to shape the meat mixture into small meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get around 20 meatballs.
  3. Cook the Meatballs:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 6-8 minutes, turning them occasionally until they are browned on all sides and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F/71°C).
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the meatballs with a side of yogurt, couscous, or over rice, or as an appetizer with a spicy dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Adjust the level of chili flakes depending on your spice tolerance. You can also add a diced jalapeño or hot sauce for extra heat.
  • For added flavor, you can serve these meatballs with a drizzle of tahini or a squeeze of lemon.
  • You can make these meatballs ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or freeze them for longer storage.
