Description

Spicy Smashed Avocado Hash Brown Toasts are a crispy, savory, and satisfying twist on traditional avocado toast. Golden hash brown patties take the place of bread, topped with creamy, chili-kicked avocado and your favorite toppings. Great for breakfast, brunch, or a quick snack with a kick!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 frozen hash brown patties
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon lime juice (or more to taste)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: poached or fried eggs, sliced jalapeños, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, hot sauce, fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Cook hash brown patties according to package directions until crispy and golden brown (usually about 20 minutes in the oven or air fryer).
  2. While hash browns are cooking, scoop avocados into a bowl. Add red pepper flakes, garlic powder, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mash until well combined but still a little chunky.
  3. Once hash browns are done, place them on a plate and spread the smashed avocado mixture evenly over each.
  4. Add your favorite toppings—eggs, jalapeños, tomatoes, feta, or hot sauce for extra spice and flavor.
  5. Serve immediately while the hash browns are still warm and crispy.

Notes

  • To make it extra spicy, mix hot sauce or a dash of cayenne into the avocado mash.
  • This recipe is naturally gluten-free—just make sure your hash browns are certified GF.
  • Make it vegan by skipping cheese or eggs and adding plant-based toppings like sautéed mushrooms or tofu crumbles.
  • Perfect for brunch boards or served in halves as appetizers.
