Description

Perfect for any Halloween event, these Witch Hat Cupcakes are a crowd-pleaser with their rich chocolate flavor and whimsical witch hat decorations. Ideal for adding a festive touch to your celebration.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients to prepare the mix)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 chocolate sugar cones
  • 1 cup black decorating sugar
  • Assorted Halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven according to the chocolate cake mix package instructions. Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners and fill each liner with the prepared batter.
  • Bake the cupcakes according to the package instructions. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
  • Frost each cooled cupcake with the chocolate frosting.
  • Dip the open end of each chocolate sugar cone into the black decorating sugar, coating the edge. Place the cone, open-end down, on top of each frosted cupcake to form the witch hat.
  • Decorate the base of each cone with assorted Halloween sprinkles to create a festive hatband.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container until ready to serve.

Notes

  • You can use vanilla or pumpkin spice cake mix instead of chocolate for a different flavor base.
