Description

This St. Patrick’s Day Brownie Trifle is a festive and decadent dessert that’s perfect for celebrating the holiday! Layers of rich brownie chunks, whipped cream, and colorful green sprinkles come together to create a deliciously indulgent treat. The vibrant green layers are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day parties or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1 box of your favorite brownie mix (or homemade brownies, if preferred)
  • Ingredients required for the brownie mix (usually eggs, oil, and water)

For the Whipped Cream:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Layers:

  • 1/2 cup green sprinkles (or St. Patrick’s Day themed sprinkles)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/4 cup crushed mint chocolate (like Andes mints or chocolate peppermint bark, optional)

For Garnish:

  • Green sprinkles
  • Mint leaves (optional for decoration)
  • Extra chocolate shavings or chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bake the brownies:
Prepare the brownies according to the package instructions, or use your favorite homemade brownie recipe. Bake and let them cool completely. Once cooled, cut the brownies into 1-inch squares.

  2. Make the whipped cream:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

  3. Assemble the trifle:
In a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, begin layering the ingredients.

    • Start with a layer of brownie squares at the bottom of the dish.
    • Top with a layer of whipped cream.
    • Add a sprinkle of green sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, or crushed mint chocolate for extra flavor and texture.
    • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used up, finishing with a generous layer of whipped cream on top.
  4. Garnish:
Top the whipped cream layer with more green sprinkles, mint leaves, and any additional chocolate shavings or chips. You can also add a few whole brownies on top for decoration.

  5. Chill and serve:
Refrigerate the trifle for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • This dessert can be made ahead of time! Make it the night before St. Patrick’s Day to save time on the day of the celebration.
  • You can add a little green food coloring to the whipped cream for a more festive touch.
  • If you don’t want to use mint chocolate, regular chocolate works just as well.

  • For extra flavor, you can add a layer of chocolate ganache between the whipped cream and brownie layers.
