Description

This Steak and Shrimp Scampi is a luxurious and flavorful combination of perfectly cooked steak and succulent shrimp in a rich, buttery garlic sauce. It’s an impressive dish that’s surprisingly easy to make, making it perfect for a romantic dinner, a special occasion, or a weekend treat. The garlic butter sauce is packed with flavor, and the tender steak and shrimp create the perfect balance of textures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 steaks (filet mignon, ribeye, or your favorite cut)
  • 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for searing steak)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Steaks:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
    • Place the steaks in the hot skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side (for medium-rare), or longer depending on your desired level of doneness.
    • Once cooked, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest while you prepare the shrimp scampi.
  2. Cook the Shrimp Scampi:
    • In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
    • Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
    • Add the shrimp to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until they are pink and cooked through.
    • Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Scampi Sauce:
    • To the same skillet, add the white wine (or chicken broth) and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
    • Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes, letting it reduce slightly.
    • Taste the sauce and adjust with salt and pepper as needed.
  4. Combine Steak and Shrimp:
    • Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss them in the garlic butter sauce.
    • Slice the rested steak and serve it alongside the shrimp.
    • Spoon the garlic butter sauce over the steak and shrimp.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, if desired.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • For a more intense garlic flavor, you can add more minced garlic to the sauce.
  • If you don’t have white wine, chicken broth works as a great substitute.
  • If you prefer your shrimp to have more heat, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
  • The steak can be cooked to your preferred level of doneness. If you prefer a more well-done steak, cook it for a few extra minutes on each side.
