Description
This easy-to-make Strawberry Freezer Jam is a delicious way to preserve the sweetness of fresh strawberries. With no cooking required, it’s a quick and simple recipe that delivers vibrant, flavorful jam perfect for spreading on toast, topping desserts, or adding to yogurt!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and crushed
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 box (1.75 oz) fruit pectin (such as Sure-Jell)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by hulling and crushing the strawberries. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash the strawberries into a pulp, leaving some chunks if you prefer a chunky jam.
- In a separate bowl, mix the sugar and pectin.
- In a saucepan, combine the water and the sugar-pectin mixture. Bring to a boil over medium heat while stirring constantly. Once it reaches a boil, continue stirring for about 1-2 minutes, and then remove from heat.
- Immediately add the pectin mixture to the crushed strawberries and stir well for about 3 minutes.
- Optional: Add lemon juice for an extra zing.
- Pour the jam into clean jars or freezer-safe containers. Leave about 1/2 inch of space at the top for expansion during freezing.
- Allow the jam to sit at room temperature for about 24 hours to set.
- Store the jam in the freezer for up to a year or refrigerate for up to 3 weeks after setting.
Notes
- This jam must be stored in the freezer to keep it fresh for longer periods. Once opened, keep the jar in the fridge.
- For best results, use fresh, ripe strawberries.
- You can use this jam on toast, in baking, or even as a topping for ice cream.
