Description

This Strawberry Sweet Tea is the perfect blend of sweet tea and fresh strawberries! Made with simple ingredients, it’s a refreshing and delicious drink to enjoy on a hot day. Serve it at parties or for a family gathering for a flavorful twist on classic iced tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags (or tea of your choice)
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar (adjust to your sweetness preference)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)
  • Extra strawberries or mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea:

    • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Once it boils, remove it from the heat and add the tea bags. Let the tea steep for about 5-7 minutes, then remove the tea bags and set the tea aside to cool.
  2. Prepare the Strawberry Syrup:

    • While the tea is cooling, combine the sliced strawberries and sugar in a separate saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juice and the sugar dissolves. This should take about 5-10 minutes.
    • Once the strawberries have softened and the mixture has thickened slightly, use a spoon or potato masher to mash the strawberries and release more juice. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool.
  3. Combine the Tea and Strawberry Syrup:

    • After the tea has cooled to room temperature and the strawberry syrup is ready, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove any solids. Pour the strawberry syrup into the cooled tea and stir to combine.
  4. Adjust the Sweetness:

    • Taste the strawberry sweet tea and adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more sugar if needed, or a little lemon juice for extra brightness.
  5. Serve:

    • Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the strawberry sweet tea over the ice. Garnish with fresh strawberry slices or mint leaves, if desired.

Notes

  • You can store the strawberry sweet tea in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • For an added twist, you can also add a splash of sparkling water for a fizzy version of strawberry sweet tea.
  • If you’re looking for a healthier alternative, you can reduce the sugar or use a natural sweetener like honey or agave.
