Perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or any time you want to show someone you care! A delicious mix of chocolate and strawberry, these brownies will melt hearts and taste buds alike.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup milk

For the Strawberry Swirl:

  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

For Garnish:

  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Swirl:
    1. In a small saucepan, combine the chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes, or until the strawberries break down and release their juices.
    2. Use a fork or immersion blender to mash the strawberries into a smooth sauce. Continue cooking for an additional 3-5 minutes until it thickens into a syrup-like consistency. Set aside to cool.

Prepare the Brownie Batter: 3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
    2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the milk until smooth.

Assemble the Brownies: 6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.

    1. Drop spoonfuls of the strawberry sauce onto the brownie batter and use a toothpick or knife to swirl it into the batter, creating a marbled effect. For a fun Valentine’s twist, you can create heart shapes by carefully arranging the strawberry sauce in the shape of hearts before swirling.

Bake: 8. Bake the brownies for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

    1. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve & Enjoy: 10. Once the brownies are completely cooled, dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness and elegance. Cut into squares or heart shapes for a fun presentation. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use frozen strawberries if fresh ones aren’t available, just make sure to thaw and drain any excess liquid before cooking.
  • For a richer brownie, add a few chocolate chips to the brownie batter.
  • These brownies are perfect for Valentine’s Day, but also great for any occasion when you want a decadent dessert with a pop of color!
