Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp honey (or more for extra sweetness)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup water (adjust for desired consistency)
Instructions
- Combine the Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, honey, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Adjust Consistency: Slowly add water, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. For a thicker sauce, use less water; for a thinner sauce, add more.
- Chill: Refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before using to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve: Drizzle the sweet onion sauce on your favorite sandwiches, wraps, or salads. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
Notes
- For an even sweeter sauce, add extra honey or a pinch of brown sugar.
- If you prefer a tangier sauce, increase the apple cider vinegar.
- This sauce works wonderfully on chicken or veggie sandwiches.
- You can substitute the mayonnaise for a vegan alternative to make the sauce dairy-free.
