Description

These Sweet Cinnamon Air Fryer Banana Chips are a healthier, crunchy snack that’s sweetened with a hint of cinnamon and a touch of honey. Made easily in the air fryer, they’re the perfect way to enjoy a crisp, homemade treat without the added sugars or oils of traditional fried chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas (firm, not too ripe)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Bananas:
    • Peel the bananas and slice them thinly, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. A mandoline slicer works well to ensure even slices.
    • Place the banana slices in a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Make the Cinnamon Honey Coating:
    • In a small bowl, mix the honey or maple syrup with the ground cinnamon and a pinch of salt (if using). Stir until combined.
    • Drizzle this mixture over the banana slices and gently toss to coat the banana slices evenly.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Air Fry the Banana Chips:
    • Place the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to do this in batches.
    • Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the banana chips are golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye on them as they can burn quickly toward the end.
  5. Cool and Serve:
    • Remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
    • Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days.

Notes

  • If you prefer extra sweetness, you can sprinkle a little more cinnamon and sugar over the banana slices before air frying.
  • For a healthier version, skip the honey or maple syrup and use a light dusting of cinnamon.
  • Ensure the banana slices are as even as possible to promote uniform cooking. If some chips are thicker than others, they may need slightly more time to crisp up.
