For the Donuts:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- Oil for frying (if making fried donuts) or donut molds for baked donuts
For the Strawberry Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ½ cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Toppings:
- Fresh strawberries, halved for topping
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
- For Frying: Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat to about 350°F (175°C). Roll the dough out on a floured surface and cut into donut shapes. Carefully fry the donuts for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on a paper towel.
- For Baking: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into greased donut molds and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden and cooked through.
- To make the strawberry glaze, mash the fresh strawberries in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, mashed strawberries, cream, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust consistency by adding more cream if needed.
- Once the donuts have cooled, dip them into the strawberry glaze and place them on a wire rack to set.
- Top each donut with fresh strawberry halves and dust with powdered sugar for a beautiful finishing touch.
