Description

This Swiss Mushroom Melt Delight is a savory sandwich featuring juicy beef patties, golden sautรฉed mushrooms, melty Swiss cheese, and your choice of mayo or garlic aioli, all grilled between slices of sourdough or rye bread for the ultimate comfort food experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 4 slices sourdough or rye bread
  • 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp oil for grilling
  • 2 tbsp mayo or garlic aioli
  • 1 tsp salt & black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mushrooms: Heat the butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Sautรฉ the sliced mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and tender. Set aside.
  2. Cook the beef patties: In a bowl, mix the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form patties slightly larger than your bread slices. Cook them in the same skillet used for the mushrooms until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  3. Assemble the sandwich: Spread a thin layer of mayo or garlic aioli on one side of each slice of bread. Place Swiss cheese on the bread, add the beef patty, and top with sautรฉed mushrooms.
  4. Grill to perfection: Heat a skillet and add a little oil for grilling. Place the sandwich inside and grill until the bread is golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side, flipping carefully. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding caramelized onions with the mushrooms.
  • Swap out the bread for your favorite artisanal loaf if desired.
  • Use Gruyรจre instead of Swiss for a nuttier flavor twist.
  • Best enjoyed immediately for that perfect cheese melt.
