Description

Texas Firecrackers are a zesty and addictive snack made from crackers coated in olive oil, Italian seasoning, and chili flakes. With a bit of heat and lots of flavor, they make the perfect snack for parties, casual gatherings, or whenever you want a spicy, savory treat. These crackers are easy to make and stay fresh for up to a week, making them ideal for prepping ahead.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 12 oz. box of crackers (saltine or Ritz style)
  • ¾ cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 3 tbsp chili flakes

Instructions

  • Prepare the Crackers
Empty the entire box of crackers into a large Ziploc bag. You can use saltine or Ritz crackers based on your preference.
  • Coat with Olive Oil
Pour ¾ cup of olive oil into the bag with the crackers. Seal the bag and gently shake it to coat the crackers evenly with the oil.
  • Add Spices
Add 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning and 3 tablespoons of chili flakes to the bag. Seal the bag again and shake gently, making sure the crackers are fully coated with the oil and spices.
  • Marinate
Leave the sealed Ziploc bag at room temperature overnight, turning it over every so often. This helps the crackers soak in all the flavors.
  • Serve
After marinating, serve the Texas Firecrackers on their own or with a creamy dip. These crackers will stay fresh at room temperature for up to a week when kept sealed in a bag or airtight container.

  • Making Ahead: These firecrackers are great for making ahead of time, as the flavors develop and intensify the longer they marinate.
