This Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet Bliss is a creamy, comforting dish full of tender chicken, savory spices, and a rich, buttery sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings, this one-pan wonder is easy to make and will quickly become a family favorite! Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or some crusty bread to soak up every drop of that delicious sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter richness)

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh)

  • 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked or regular)

  • A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Season the Chicken: Toss the chicken pieces with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until evenly coated. Set aside.

  • Sear the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and nearly cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  • Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, thyme, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook until the sauce is smooth and creamy.

  • Combine Chicken and Sauce: Add the seared chicken back into the skillet and stir to coat the chicken in the sauce. Simmer for 5–6 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the sauce has thickened.

  • Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or with crusty bread.

Notes

  • Customizable: Feel free to adjust the seasonings according to your preference. Add more cayenne for extra heat, or use smoked paprika for a deeper, smoky flavor.

  • Make-Ahead: You can prep the chicken and sauce ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat gently before serving.

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat.
