Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture, softened butter, salt, honey, and egg. Stir in flour, one cup at a time, until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape the dough into balls and place them on a greased baking pan.
- Cover the pan with a towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Optional: Brush with melted butter immediately after baking.
- Serve warm with cinnamon butter.
Notes
- If you prefer a fluffier roll, let the dough rise longer.
- For the cinnamon butter: mix 1/2 cup softened butter, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
