Description

This Texas Roadhouse Steak Sauce is a tangy and savory homemade condiment that brings a rich depth of flavor to grilled steaks, burgers, and more. Made with a combination of ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and steak sauce, this versatile sauce is perfect for adding a restaurant-quality touch to your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup steak sauce (like A1)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and apple cider vinegar until smooth and well combined.
  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Whisk again until all the spices are fully incorporated into the sauce.
  • Pour the mixture into a small saucepan and place it over medium heat.
  • Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally. Once it begins to simmer, reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool. Transfer to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to develop further.
  • Serve the sauce alongside your favorite grilled steaks, burgers, or as a dipping sauce for fries.

Notes

  • The sauce thickens as it cools. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can add a tablespoon of water or more as needed during cooking.
  • Adjust the cayenne pepper to taste if you prefer more or less heat.
  • This sauce pairs well with a variety of dishes beyond steak, including grilled chicken, pork chops, and roasted vegetables.
