Description

Recreate the bold, flavorful steak seasoning from Texas Roadhouse at home! This homemade version of their signature steak rub is packed with savory, smoky, and slightly sweet flavors that pair perfectly with any cut of beef. Easy to make and perfect for grilling or pan-searing!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp paprika (preferably smoked)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Combine the Ingredients:
In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients: kosher salt, black pepper, paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper (if using), thyme, and oregano.
  2. Mix Well:
Stir the ingredients together until fully combined. Make sure that all spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Store the Seasoning:
Store the seasoning in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. It will keep for up to 6 months.
  4. Season the Steak:
Rub the seasoning generously onto your steak before grilling or pan-searing. Allow the steak to sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors before cooking.

Notes

  • Adjust the heat level by increasing or decreasing the amount of cayenne pepper.
  • This seasoning works well not only on steaks but also on chicken, pork, and vegetables!
  • You can make a larger batch to have on hand for future grilling sessions. Simply double or triple the recipe.
