Description

Indulge in the rich, fudgy goodness of these Chocolate Nutella Brownies, featuring layers of dark chocolate and a swirl of Nutella, all topped with toasted hazelnuts for added crunch. Perfect for any chocolate lover!


Ingredients

  • 400 grams butter, room temperature
  • 400 grams quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
  • 500 grams castor sugar
  • 6 large free-range eggs
  • 10 milliliters vanilla extract
  • 250 grams cake flour
  • 5 milliliters baking powder
  • 80 milliliters (1/3 cup) Nutella, plus extra for decorating (optional)
  • 1/2 cup toasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 170°C (338°F).
  • Prepare the tin: Line a 21cm x 28cm metal brownie tin with baking paper on all sides.
  • Melt the chocolate: Melt the butter and chocolate in a double boiler, then set aside to cool.
  • Beat the eggs: Beat the castor sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract together until light and fluffy and more or less doubled in volume.
  • Combine the wet ingredients: Stir in the cooled chocolate and butter mixture.
  • Add the dry ingredients: Sift the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl and add this to the chocolate batter. Briefly mix to combine.
  • Layer the brownies: Tip half the mixture into the prepared brownie tin and dollop the Nutella in blotches evenly across the surface. Use a skewer to swirl each mound slightly into the batter.
  • Pour the remaining batter: Pour the remaining chocolate batter over this and spread to distribute evenly.
  • Bake the brownies: Bake for 45 minutes; they will still be a bit wobbly.
  • Let cool: Leave to cool completely before removing from the tin and cutting.

Notes

For an extra chocolatey flavor, drizzle more Nutella on top before serving.
