Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80/20 for best flavor and moisture)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (helps bind the loaf together)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (adds texture and flavor)
- 1 egg, beaten (acts as a binder)
- 1/2 cup milk (keeps the meatloaf moist)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (for umami flavor)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (adds a subtle garlic taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste (season according to your preference)
For the Topping:
- 1/4 cup ketchup (base of your glaze)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (adds sweetness)
- 1 tablespoon mustard (gives a tangy flavor)
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Shape and Place: Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf shape and carefully place it inside your lined crockpot.
- Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Cook: Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 6-7 hours, until fully cooked and juicy.
- Rest and Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes after cooking to allow juices to redistribute. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- For added moisture, you can mix in grated carrots or bell peppers.
- Make sure to not overmix to keep the meatloaf tender.
