Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
- Flour (for dusting the surface)
- Cooking spray or olive oil (for greasing the baking sheet)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Add cheese and pepperoni: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly across the dough, followed by a layer of pepperoni slices.
- Season: Top the pepperoni with grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.
- Roll it up: Carefully roll the dough from one long side to the other, tucking in the edges as you go.
- Prepare for baking: Place the rolled-up stromboli seam-side down on a greased baking sheet. Brush the top with a beaten egg.
- Allow steam to escape: Make a few small slits along the top to allow steam to escape.
- Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the crust turns golden brown and crisp.
- Serve: Let the stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with warm marinara sauce on the side.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute pepperoni with your favorite vegetables.
- To enhance flavor, try adding red pepper flakes or fresh herbs.
