Description

A delicious homemade stromboli packed with gooey mozzarella cheese and savory pepperoni, all enveloped in a crispy golden crust. Perfect for family dinners, game nights, or as a tasty snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
  • Flour (for dusting the surface)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil (for greasing the baking sheet)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  • Add cheese and pepperoni: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly across the dough, followed by a layer of pepperoni slices.
  • Season: Top the pepperoni with grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.
  • Roll it up: Carefully roll the dough from one long side to the other, tucking in the edges as you go.
  • Prepare for baking: Place the rolled-up stromboli seam-side down on a greased baking sheet. Brush the top with a beaten egg.
  • Allow steam to escape: Make a few small slits along the top to allow steam to escape.
  • Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the crust turns golden brown and crisp.
  • Serve: Let the stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with warm marinara sauce on the side.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute pepperoni with your favorite vegetables.
  • To enhance flavor, try adding red pepper flakes or fresh herbs.
