Description

This vibrant, sweet-and-savory Tomato Jam Bruschetta is the perfect appetizer for your next gathering! With a tangy, rich tomato jam spread over crispy toasted baguette slices, topped with fresh basil, and drizzled with balsamic glaze, it’s a simple yet elegant treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
  • 1 cup tomato jam (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1/2 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded or torn into small pieces (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for drizzling)
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (for drizzling)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baguette:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Assemble the Bruschetta:
Spread about 1-2 teaspoons of tomato jam on each toasted baguette slice. If you’re using mozzarella cheese, sprinkle a small amount of cheese over the jam.
  3. Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle the chopped basil over the jam and cheese (if using), and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and garnish with additional basil leaves.
  4. Serve Immediately:
Serve the bruschetta warm, and enjoy this perfect combination of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors.

Notes

  • If you don’t have tomato jam, you can make a quick homemade version by simmering fresh tomatoes, sugar, vinegar, and a bit of garlic until thickened into a jam-like consistency.
  • For a richer flavor, add a small dollop of ricotta or goat cheese on top of the tomato jam before the basil and balsamic glaze.
  • You can also add some thinly sliced prosciutto for an extra layer of flavor!
