Ingredients
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained and flaked
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
-
Prepare the Mixture:
In a large bowl, combine the flaked tuna, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated. -
Form the Patties:
Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape them into small patties, about 1/2 inch thick. If the mixture feels too loose, you can add a little more breadcrumbs to help it hold together. -
Cook the Patties:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the patties to the skillet, cooking in batches if needed. Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. -
Serve:
Once cooked, transfer the patties to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve warm with a side of your favorite dipping sauce, or on a bun as a sandwich. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute the cheddar cheese with Swiss, mozzarella, or any cheese you prefer.
- These patties are great on a bun with lettuce, tomato, and a drizzle of your favorite sauce for a quick Tuna Melt sandwich.
- For a healthier option, you can bake these patties in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
