Description

This Tuna Salad Bagel Sandwich is a quick and satisfying meal made with creamy tuna salad nestled between a toasted bagel. Packed with protein, veggies, and a tangy dressing, it’s perfect for a lunch, snack, or a light dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Tuna Salad:

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water or oil, drained
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon capers, chopped (optional)
  • 1 small celery stalk, finely chopped
  • ¼ small red onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Sandwich:

  • 4 bagels (your choice of flavor – plain, whole wheat, or everything bagel)
  • 1 leaf romaine lettuce or spinach
  • 23 slices tomato (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for toasting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Tuna Salad:
    • In a bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, capers (if using), chopped celery, and red onion.
    • Stir everything together until well combined.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Toast the Bagels:
    • Slice the bagels in half and lightly toast them in a toaster or on a grill pan with olive oil for extra crispiness.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich:
    • Spread a generous amount of the tuna salad on the bottom half of each toasted bagel.
    • Top with a lettuce leaf (or spinach) and slices of tomato, if using.
    • Place the top half of the bagel over the fillings.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve immediately and enjoy your tasty Tuna Salad Bagel Sandwich!

Notes

  • You can swap mayonnaise for Greek yogurt for a lighter version of the tuna salad.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a dash of hot sauce or a sprinkle of paprika in the tuna salad.
  • This sandwich can be easily meal-prepped by storing the tuna salad separately and assembling the bagels just before serving.
