Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers
- 1/4 cup sliced pickles (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Season the beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Roll Out the Dough:
- On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large circle that will fit your pie or baking dish.
- Assemble the Pie:
- Place the rolled-out dough into a greased pie dish, allowing the edges to overhang.
- Spread half of the pizza sauce on the bottom of the dough.
- Layer the cooked ground beef, mozzarella cheese, bacon (if using), pepperoni slices, mushrooms, bell peppers, and pickles.
- Top with the remaining pizza sauce and add an extra layer of mozzarella cheese.
- Fold and Seal:
- Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pinching to seal the edges and create a rustic crust.
- Brush the top of the dough with olive oil for a golden, crispy finish.
- Bake the Pie:
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy the delicious pizza burger combo!
Notes
- Toppings: You can customize the toppings by adding or omitting ingredients such as olives, jalapeños, or extra vegetables like spinach or onions.
- Spicy Option: Add crushed red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the filling for a spicy kick.
- Cheese Variations: Try using a blend of mozzarella, cheddar, and provolone for a different cheese profile.
- Crust Variations: You can also make the crust using crescent roll dough or puff pastry for a flakier texture.
- Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge. Reheat in the oven for a crispy crust.
