Description

This Valentine’s Cherry Pie Dessert Pizza is a fun and sweet twist on classic cherry pie. With a buttery, golden crust topped with a creamy cheesecake filling and a sweet cherry topping, this dessert pizza is perfect for celebrating love!

Ingredients

Scale

For the crust:

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough if preferred)
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing)

For the cheesecake filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup heavy cream

For the cherry topping:

  • 2 cups fresh or canned cherries (pitted)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp water
  • ¼ tsp almond extract (optional, for extra flavor)

For garnish:

  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Prepare the pizza dough:
Roll out the pizza dough into a round shape on the prepared baking sheet. If you want to shape it like a heart, you can gently press the edges to form a heart shape. Brush the dough with melted butter and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Allow it to cool slightly once baked.
  3. Make the cheesecake filling:
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the heavy cream and continue mixing until the filling is fluffy and smooth.
  4. Prepare the cherry topping:
In a saucepan, combine the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, water, and almond extract (if using). Stir the mixture over medium heat until the cherries soften and the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Assemble the dessert pizza:
Once the pizza crust has cooled slightly, spread the cheesecake filling evenly over the pizza crust, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Top with cherries:
Spoon the cherry topping over the cheesecake filling, spreading it evenly across the pizza.
  7. Serve and garnish:
For a fun touch, dust the pizza with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh mint leaves. Slice the dessert pizza into wedges and serve immediately!

Notes

  • You can use canned cherry pie filling if you’re short on time, but fresh cherries are always a great option for extra flavor.
  • To make it even more festive, top with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream when serving.
  • If you prefer a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough slightly before adding the filling and toppings.
