Description

This easy and indulgent Valentine’s Day Mug Cake for Two is the perfect way to celebrate with a sweet treat! Made in minutes with simple ingredients, it’s rich, gooey, and the perfect size for sharing with someone special. Top with whipped cream or sprinkles for extra fun!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
  • Whipped cream or ice cream for topping (optional)
  • Red or pink sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the mug, and stir until smooth. Make sure to scrape the bottom to mix everything well.
  3. Add Chocolate Chips: Stir in chocolate chips, if using.
  4. Microwave the Cake: Microwave the mug on high for 1 minute and 10 seconds. The cake should rise and set, but it may still look slightly wet in the center.
  5. Cool & Serve: Let the mug cake cool for a minute or two. Top with whipped cream, ice cream, or sprinkles for a festive touch.
  6. Enjoy: Share and enjoy the delicious treat right from the mug

Notes

  • Be careful not to overcook the mug cake. Microwaves vary in power, so you may need to adjust the cooking time slightly (start with 1 minute and 10 seconds and add 10-second increments if necessary).
  • For a richer cake, you can add 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips to the batter before microwaving and sprinkle some on top after cooking.
  • To make this cake dairy-free, simply use dairy-free milk and a plant-based butter substitute.
