Description

These Valentine’s Day Popcorn Balls are a fun and festive treat perfect for celebrating love! With soft, buttery marshmallows and colorful Valentine’s candies, these popcorn balls are easy to make and great for gifting or sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups popped popcorn (plain, unbuttered)
  • 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Red or pink food coloring (optional)
  • Valentine’s Day candies (e.g., conversation hearts, M&Ms, heart sprinkles)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Popcorn:
Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl, removing any unpopped kernels. Set aside.
  2. Melt the Marshmallow Mixture:
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. If desired, add a few drops of red or pink food coloring and mix until evenly tinted.
  3. Combine with Popcorn:
Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the popcorn.
Use a spatula or greased hands to gently mix until the popcorn is evenly coated.
  4. Add Valentine Candy:
Quickly fold in the Valentine’s Day candies while the mixture is still warm, distributing them throughout the popcorn.
  5. Shape the Popcorn Balls:
Lightly grease your hands with butter or non-stick spray.
Scoop out portions of the coated popcorn mixture and form into balls about 3 inches in diameter.
Place the shaped popcorn balls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Set and Serve:
Let the popcorn balls cool completely to firm up.
Wrap each ball in plastic wrap or place them in treat bags for gifting, or serve on a festive platter!

Notes

  • If the mixture feels too sticky when shaping the balls, you can lightly grease your hands with butter to make it easier to work with.
  • These popcorn balls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
