Description

These Valentine’s Day Red Velvet Truffles are a decadent and delightful treat! Made with rich red velvet cake and coated in smooth white chocolate, these bite-sized treats are perfect for sharing with your loved ones this Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box red velvet cake mix (or homemade red velvet cake)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz white chocolate, chopped (or white chocolate chips)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or coconut oil for a smoother texture)
  • Optional: red sprinkles or crushed nuts for decoration

Instructions

  1. Bake the Red Velvet Cake:
Follow the instructions on the cake mix box (or your homemade red velvet cake recipe) to bake the cake. Once baked, allow it to cool completely.
  2. Make the Cake Crumbs:
After the cake has cooled, crumble the cake into small pieces using your hands or a fork, creating a fine crumb texture.
  3. Prepare the Truffle Filling:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake crumbs with the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix well until the mixture is smooth and can be easily rolled into balls.
  4. Form the Truffles:
Roll the mixture into small bite-sized balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Chill the Truffles:
Place the truffle balls in the fridge to chill for about 30 minutes, or until firm.
  6. Coat the Truffles in White Chocolate:
Melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, adding vegetable oil to ensure it’s smooth and glossy. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each until completely melted.
Dip each chilled truffle into the melted white chocolate, making sure it’s fully coated. Place the dipped truffle back onto the parchment paper.
If desired, decorate the truffles with red sprinkles or crushed nuts while the chocolate is still soft.
  7. Set the Truffles:
Allow the truffles to set at room temperature, or place them in the fridge to speed up the process (about 15-20 minutes).
  8. Serve and Enjoy:
Once set, serve and enjoy these rich, creamy red velvet truffles!

Notes

  • You can use dark chocolate or milk chocolate if you prefer a different coating.
  • Store the truffles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
