Description

Weasleys’ Dragon Roasted Nuts are a bold and spicy snack inspired by the Weasley twins’ knack for fiery concoctions. A mix of nuts, tossed in a smoky, sweet, and spicy seasoning, these roasted nuts are the perfect snack to accompany any magical gathering. The combination of spices and heat will have you feeling like you’re enjoying a treat from the Weasley Wizard Wheezes shop!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mixed nuts (such as almonds, cashews, pecans, or walnuts)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste for heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional, for a zesty finish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mixed nuts with olive oil, stirring to coat them evenly.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, cinnamon, and cumin.
  4. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the nuts and toss until the nuts are evenly coated in the seasoning.
  5. Spread the nuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Roast the nuts in the oven for 15-20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes to ensure they roast evenly and don’t burn. Keep a close eye on them, as nuts can burn quickly.
  7. Once the nuts are golden brown and fragrant, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  8. If desired, drizzle with fresh lemon juice to add a zesty twist. Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy your fiery, dragon-inspired snack!

Notes

  • Adjust the level of heat by increasing or decreasing the amount of cayenne pepper based on your spice tolerance.
  • These nuts can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
  • For a different flavor profile, try adding a pinch of smoked chipotle powder or a splash of hot sauce for an extra smoky, spicy kick.
  • Feel free to customize the mix of nuts. Cashews, almonds, and pecans work especially well in this recipe.
