Description
Delightfully crisp and golden cookies that are easy to make and just perfect when you ‘forget’ them in the oven a little longer. A whimsical treat for cookie lovers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or dried fruit
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually blend dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
- Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts or dried fruit.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are golden and the cookies appear slightly “forgotten” —a little more browned than usual for extra crispiness.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Watch carefully if you like softer cookies; adjust baking time accordingly.
- Try adding a pinch of cinnamon or sea salt on top for a flavor twist.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
