Description

Delightfully crisp and golden cookies that are easy to make and just perfect when you ‘forget’ them in the oven a little longer. A whimsical treat for cookie lovers.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or dried fruit

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually blend dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts or dried fruit.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are golden and the cookies appear slightly “forgotten” —a little more browned than usual for extra crispiness.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
