Description
These White Castle Sliders are a homemade version of the iconic fast-food mini burgers! Perfect for a party or a quick weeknight dinner, these sliders are made with juicy beef patties, caramelized onions, and a soft, toasted bun.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 12 small slider buns (such as Kings Hawaiian or similar soft buns)
- 6 slices American cheese, cut in half (optional)
- 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
- 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting buns)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, sauté the chopped onion over medium heat with a bit of oil or butter until softened and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- On a baking sheet, place the slider buns and toast them lightly in the oven for about 5 minutes, until slightly golden.
- While the buns are toasting, form the ground beef into a large, even patty (about the size of the full baking sheet). Season with salt and pepper.
- Place the beef patty onto a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side, ensuring the middle is cooked through.
- Once the patty is cooked, cut it into 12 small squares, making sure each square will fit nicely into the slider buns.
- Place each beef square on the toasted buns and top with a slice of caramelized onion and a half-slice of cheese. Add mustard or ketchup if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For an even more authentic taste, try using a small amount of beef broth in the pan while cooking the patty to simulate the steaming technique used in fast food versions.
- Feel free to add pickles or any additional condiments you like on your sliders.
