Description

These White Castle Sliders are a homemade version of the iconic fast-food mini burgers! Perfect for a party or a quick weeknight dinner, these sliders are made with juicy beef patties, caramelized onions, and a soft, toasted bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 12 small slider buns (such as Kings Hawaiian or similar soft buns)
  • 6 slices American cheese, cut in half (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting buns)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, sauté the chopped onion over medium heat with a bit of oil or butter until softened and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. On a baking sheet, place the slider buns and toast them lightly in the oven for about 5 minutes, until slightly golden.
  4. While the buns are toasting, form the ground beef into a large, even patty (about the size of the full baking sheet). Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Place the beef patty onto a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side, ensuring the middle is cooked through.
  6. Once the patty is cooked, cut it into 12 small squares, making sure each square will fit nicely into the slider buns.
  7. Place each beef square on the toasted buns and top with a slice of caramelized onion and a half-slice of cheese. Add mustard or ketchup if desired.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an even more authentic taste, try using a small amount of beef broth in the pan while cooking the patty to simulate the steaming technique used in fast food versions.
  • Feel free to add pickles or any additional condiments you like on your sliders.
